White House tour

My sister and her family flew in late last night to spend Spring Break with us. I am so excited for all the fun we are going to have!

First item on the agenda is an 8:30 am White_House_Tour. That was a very early wake-up call to start off our adventures. It was a rainy day. You are not allowed to bring ANYTHING inside the White House so we had to go back later and take pictures from the outside. The last picture is from the gift shop, but a pretty good feeling of what it looks like inside.
Next we went over to the Natural_History_Museum. One of my favorites. I love the gems. Here are the girls with their favorites.
A quick walk-by of Ford's_Theatre. We also toured the National_Archives. Again, no photos allowed, but this is where you get to see the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.
Walking around the Old_Post_Office. We will go up the tower on another day. April 16th is DC Emancipation Day. The bells were ringing for several hours at the Old Post Office, so no one was allowed to go up. Still, it is a beautiful building full of marble and carvings.

The girls were wiped out at the end of the day.

A quick little note about the Flower & Garden Festival. It was raining all day long with severe thunderstorms in the afternoon. Even a tornado warning. We got back by 5 pm, an hour before they closed, but everyone had already closed up shop for the day. :(
