10 Years

Happy Anniversary! It has been 10 years since Clay & I got married in the Los Angeles Temple. Today we got to go to the Washington DC Temple and watch Brandi & Robbie King get married. It was a great way to remember our own wedding day.

I love you even more today!

Down on the Mall

Any time we have guests at our house, we always end up in DC walking around the Mall. We love it, because it gives us an excuse to go out and see some of it.

Washington Monument

Clay & Shaylin

Resting on the steps of the Jefferson Memorial. It is a lot of walking to see all the monument.

It was about 92 degrees today. :)

A walk in the woods

We had the King family staying with us this week. Shaylin is Clay's best friend from middle school in Wisconsin. His mom gave Clay a Book of Mormon when Shaylin left on his mission. That is what led Clay to the missionaries and joining the church. We love the Kings!!

After church we took a walk through the woods right by our house.

Part of the King family: Shelly, Dan, Jill, (Rebekah), Shaylin, (Kyle is on his back), and Michelle.

We saw a lot of strange plants.

Civil War cemetery in the woods.

Potomac River.

Another strange plant.

There's a toad in the middle of those leaves.

Another small toad.

Baseball for Reading

Our local minor league baseball team offers a free game to elementary school kids who read 5 books during a given month. Emma brought home her card and read all 5 books that very night!! She was so excited to go to a baseball game and walk around in the parade.

Mysterious vandal

I went outside this morning to check on my flowers, only to find this:

My marigolds were pulled off and left on the railing and behind the pot. Could it have been a squirrel? A raccoon? Or a deer??

Flower & Garden Festival

When we first moved out here, 7 years ago, the Williams took us to the annual Flower & Garden Festival. We have gone every year since then.

Being a southern California native, the winters out here are a little hard for me. I know, we don't have HARD winters out here, but it is hard for me to go so long being cold. The festival comes at just the right time. I walk up an down the street, feeling the sunshine warm my back, enjoying the bursts of color everywhere I look. It feels like coming out of hibernation. I feel like myself again. I love it!

Emma got a pretty flower painted by Girl Scout Stacy J.

Rebekah got a yellow fish painted by their leader Mrs. J.

Trip to the Zoo

Spring break is over, but we still have one more day off -Teacher Work day. We piled in the minivan with our great friends, the Rosenlunds, and went to the National Zoo.

The Zoo was packed! We thought that since spring break was over it would be empty. Turns our they were having a special event. Easter Monday: Celebrating the African American Family . Aside from all the people, it actually turned out to be a great day for the zoo. It was a little bit on the cool side so all the animals were ACTIVE!!

Here's Emma with her school mascot in the background.

This Orangutan is climbing on the "O-Line" above our heads!
Rebekah's favorite frog -yellow and small.

Egg Hunt

After church, Clay hid plastic eggs in the yard for the girls. We took an idea from my sister-in-law and hid yellow and orange ones for Rebekah, and purple and pink one for Emma.

Happy Easter

When we went in to get Rebekah out of bed this morning she had taken off all her clothes and was jumping up and down shouting "bunny!" and "candy!". No wonder she had a hard time falling alseep last night.

Cute girls in easter dresses!
