New doll clothes

Rebekah got a surprise package in the mail. Grandma Kris made this cute outfit for her doll. She does such a great job!

Snow Angel

 We got just enough snow for Rebekah to go out and make a snow angel.

She also got this birthday gift from Grandma Kris. An outfit for her doll.

Kris made the pants, shirt, and jacket. She also knit the hat, scarf and purse.

She did an amazing job!

The wonders of duct tape

This post is for you Deanna!

 

Emma has really gotten into duct tape. She loves it. And loves to make all kinds of things out of it. I had her gather all the things she has made so far:

slippers

flower topped pens and iPod case (that case has got through 3 or 4 different covers, she keeps updating it)

purse

American Girl doll clothes and sandals

lunch bag and iPod purse

She has also made a wallet and recovers her binders, notebooks, and composition books with duct tape. Her creativity is endless. I'm just glad she doesn't need my help for these projects. Otherwise, I would be exhausted.

Good things come...

...in large packages! 

The girls were so excited to see this huge dish pack box with their names on it. Inside was a doll bed for each of their American Girl dolls. This was a combined effort from their Auntie Heather (supplied the beds) and Grandma Chase (supplied the bedding). Thank you!!! 

Colonial Williamsburg

The last time we went to Colonial_Williamsburg, I looked like this:

6 months pregnant with Emma. We went for our 3rd anniversary in 2002.

Now it is 2012, ten years later. Seems like a good time to go again. Emma is in 4th grade and has been studying Virginia history. She has also been asking to go ever since she bought Felicity, her American Girl doll. It is a perfect time to go again. Rebekah also brought the doll she just got for Christmas. 

 They loved trying out the games at the Children's building.

 First we toured the governor's palace and grounds.

Okay, this is the ONLY picture that I am actually in. Had to prove that I was there.

I love all the detail in the molding in these old homes.

 When we came out they were demonstrating some various children's games. The girls (and Clay) tried their had and rolling the hoop. It proved to be very difficult.

 Rebekah really wanted us to buy this hat for her. It was $40 and would have been broken before we even returned home. Though it does bring out her eyes. We took a picture instead.

 Check out this really cool tree. It was huge! We couldn't figure out what kind of tree it was. Turns out  it is a crepe myrtle. Never have I seen one with such a huge trunk. It was a very old tree. We went inside the wig shop. Learned some very interesting things. Like the fact that the rich would shave their heads and wear a wig instead. Rebekah really wanted this braided piece with the pearls. Behind the Weaver's shop was the best garden in Colonial Williamsburg.

 "Look, I'm a tree." 

 This was absolutely the best tour guide I have ever seen. He kept things interesting for both the young people and the adults. I learned so many new things from him, and I thought I had been learning a lot from Emma's homework this year. 

American Girl Party

Emma wanted a birthday party at the American_Girl store. A new one just opened near us in Tysons Corner. Since the cheapest party is $30/girl + $20/adult, I said no. However, I suggested that we could take a field trip to the new store and have treats at home. Emma loved the idea and spent the next few weeks selling lemonade, cookies, and baked goods with her friends to earn some spending cash.

We got the the store right as it opened and went straight to the doll salon. Emma wanted to get Felicity's ears pierced. The girls spent the next hour exploring the store with lots of giggling. Rebekah's favorite part was twirling in the sparkly pink dressing room. The girls made their purchases and we headed back home. We own 3 of the American Girl doll movies, so the girls watched Samantha on the drive to and from the mall.

Back at the house the girls put on a doll fashion show with their new purchases. I made dolphin shaped sandwiches and mini cupcakes for the girls and their dolls (notice that Rebekah doesn't have an American Girl doll but used her favorite "spotty dog" as a substitute).
