I don't like deer

Have I mentioned that we had a really long and cold winter?
It was hard on me.
It was also hard on the deer.
Therefore, it was very hard on our plants.
Here's the damage that the deer did to our plants.

Cherry Blossoms

Time for the cherry blossoms!! Hooray!!
It has been such a long and cold winter... it feels great to see the world come back to life.
Emma was a little cold in her shorts and t-shirt. She forgot to bring her jacket. I gave her our picnic blanket to wrap herself  up in.
Rebekah was fine in her shorts. She loves to climb around on the rocks at the FDR memorial.
We  took a few selfies while walking around.
We walked down to the MLK Jr Memorial.
In these pictures you can see how many people were around.
You can also see just how big the MLK Jr carving is.
There is a short wall around the MLK memorial. On the wall are several of his quotes. These were two of our favorites.
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."

Forts

It's General Conference weekend again.
The girls kept asking if I was going to make carmelittas again. I did.
They also wanted to make a fort to watch conference.
I didn't want tall chairs in front of the TV, then Clay & I would not be able to see over the fort.
They came up with this idea. Worked great!
Both the girls fit under there with their pillows and clipboards with activities on it.

Color Run & Musical

The PTA sponsored a Color Run at school. Rebekah really wanted to go. It was just a lap around the parking lot with parents tossing colored corn meal or flour at them. Rebekah actually had to stop and let them "hit" her a few times to get this result. But she had fun!

Emma & I went out for the evening to see a musical.
One of the local high schools was preforming the school edition of Les Miserables.
I was astonished by the talent of these high school students. They really did fantastic job.

Field Trip

I got to chaperone Rebekah's field trip.
First time I have been selected to be a chaperone was just in Oct for Emma's field trip to GMU.
First time Ever.
Not in preschool. Not in kindergarten. Not any previous year.
This is my 2nd field trip.

Now I know a secret.
I can go on all of Rebekah's field trips.
Rebekah has an epi-pen for her allergies.
As the parent of a child with severe allergies the schools can not refuse me to attend to my child on any trips. I am protected by school policy and some state and national laws.

Rebekah's trip was also to GMU to see The Junie B Jones Musical.
Just for the record, I do not approve of the books. The Musical was much better.
Here is my group of "sparkly dolphins".

Character Counts

Emma got selected by one of her teachers to earn the Character Counts award for the semester.
They had a reception at school with cake for everyone.
This is Emma's "I'm not going to look at my mom" face.
