Good Citizenship

Rebekah's teacher chose her to earn the Citizen of the Month award.
I met her at school for a special breakfast and award.
She also did this painting of blossoms in spring.
Looking forward to seeing the cherry blossoms in DC.

In Summer

This is what happens to a snowman in summer.
It's not summer yet, but just 2 days later and this is all that is left of our Olaf.

Do you want to build a snowman?

I can't believe we are getting more snow! It's really late in the year for us to get another snow storm.
Rebekah went out in the morning to help shovel the walkway.
The girls were enjoying some hot chocolate and a movie.
I walked in and sang, "Do you Want to build a snowman?"
That's all it took. The girls jumped up and grabbed their snow gear and ran outside.
Rebekah and her friend, Bridgette, wanted to use the stump in our yard to make their snowman. They did a great job piling snow on to cover it up.
The girls have fallen in love with the movie Frozen. Emma decided to make Olaf. I worked at finding things to use for buttons and arms and hair. All the kids in the neighborhood came over to visit with Olaf.
"Hi ... My name is Olaf, and I like warm hugs!"

Our school had a family math night. Rebekah was excited to go and try some new games.
And we got some fun photos.

Awards Banquet

Saturday morning was another business meeting. The girls walked in as pages again.
It was time to vote for State officers.
Emma felt sick during the voting and got up and left during the middle of it. Sent everyone into a panic.

After the meeting they had colonial games and things to explore.
We had a break between the morning meeting and the awards banquet. The kids couldn't wait to get in the pool! Here's Georgia & Rebekah with Spencer and Emma in the background.
That evening was the Awards Banquet. We all got to dress up for the evening.
During the awards I asked Rebekah to go get an award for our society. She freaked out. She started yelling "I don't want to go up there! I don't know what to do! Why do you make me go up there. Why can't you just leave me alone!" We were sitting in the very back of the room. I noticed a few officers up in the front snickering. She was that loud.

Virginia CAR State Conference

We have been working so hard to get a flag for our society.
Then a prospective member in our DAR chapter volunteered to make our flag! She makes flags for a living. For churches and schools and such.
Here is our complete flag! She did an amazing job! It's double-sided. The same on the front and the back. That was 36 hours of work.
We wanted the flag to bring to State Conference. All the societies have the opportunity march their flags in at the beginning of the meeting on Fri evening and Sat morning. Then if your society wins awards at National, you may get a ribbon to add to your flag.
Georgia had the honor of being our flag bearer.
Emma and Rebekah helped out as Pages this year.
That evening was the Candidates' party where they get to meet the kids running for State offices. They had a great time.

Last Lego Club

Here is Rebekah's final lego creation. This time they were allowed to build anything they wanted.
It is hard to see in this picture but Rebekah is wearing one of the scarves she picked out from her Great-grandmother Adeanya's things. She generally wears it once or twice each week.

More Snow

Still more snow. And another day off from school.
This time all the kids came over to our house to sled down our hill. I'm tired of the snow. But I am glad that all the kids like to play together and have fun.

Creations

Lego creations are not the only thing Rebekah likes to create. She is constantly checking out craft books from the school library. This week she wanted to make a scarf out of fleece. She followed the directions on her own, with a little help from daddy. Here is her Angel scarf.
I have started getting into essential oils. There are several ladies at church who sell doTerra and have classes each week to help teach you how to use them. They sure help with all the little "tummy aches" that the girls get and helps them to settle down and go to sleep at night.
I found this cute little travel pill case at the Vera Bradley outlet. it is just the right size for the small 1 ml or 2 ml bottles to keep in my purse. I just cut two small strips of kids craft foam to help keep the bottles in order.
